Let Google Gemini Pick Your Movie This Halloween, Says TCL Expert

Media Release:

As the spookiest day of the year quickly approaches, TCL Electronics Australia (TCL) is showing movie fans how to use Google Gemini on their TV to select the right scary film.

An abundance of Halloween movies are on offer for movie enthusiasts, often making it a daunting task to choose the right one. Richard Falzon, Product Manager at TCL Electronics Australia, says asking a TV’s built-in Google Gemini assistant can provide personalised movie recommendations based on any age range and scare level.

“I know there are many film buffs who’ve seen nearly every movie under the sun and are always on the lookout for new suggestions. Halloween is the perfect occasion to test out your TV’s Gemini assistant as a movie discovery tool,” he explains. “It’s also a useful way for families and parents to find an age-appropriate movie this Halloween season. Gemini can suggest films for every generation, from young teens to an older crowd searching for something truly terrifying.
“Ultimately, Halloween is the night when people want their living rooms as dark as possible. Gemini can pick the film for those sitting on the couch, while also controlling your room’s lighting to make sure jump scares land.”

The AI assistant is compatible with Google Home devices, including lights, plugs, or split-system air conditioning. Google Gemini is a key feature of TCL’s SQD-Mini LED TV lineup, with TCL being the first TV brand to launch with the AI assistant already installed. The range’s Super Quantum Dot (SQD) technology delivers vivid colour at high brightness, while the units’ Mini-LED backlighting and Ultra Colour Filter allow precise control over both light and dark scenes, making them well-suited for darker scenes.

“So much of a horror or thriller film is set in the dark, which really tests if a TV’s precise dimming can depict inky blacks and clear shadows on-screen, and also deliver atmospheric lighting such as torch beams or flickering fires across the whole screen. This is vital during tense jump scare scenes, the film may cut from extremely dark to bright shots in a split second,” Falzon explains.
“High-quality audio is another aspect that can make or break a scary movie experience. You want to be fully enveloped by the sound of a creaking door or characters whispering eerily. That’s something TCL’s SQD-Mini LED range offers, with audio tuned by Bang & Olufsen that pulls you right into the scene.”

For those planning an upgrade before the holiday season, TCL’s QD-Mini LED TV lineup and the SQD-Mini LED TV range will be on sale across all major retailers in the lead-up to Black Friday. This includes the 75-inch TCL C7L SQD-Mini LED TV, featuring 1,352 Precise Dimming Zones and Bang & Olufsen audio.
