That incredible dedication took center stage this weekend as PAX Aus 2026 officially drew to a close after three action-packed days celebrating everything gaming. The weekend culminated in one of the festival’s most anticipated highlights: the Cosplay Central Crown Championship.
An international judging panel composed of Cinderys from France, Soylent Cosplay, and Spicythaidesign from New Zealand faced an exceptionally difficult choice given the staggering calibre and intricate detail of this year’s entries. Ultimately, Miss Twisted claimed the prestigious Australian title for an extraordinary, two-year-in-the-making portrayal of Fearne Calloway from Critical Role, featuring stunning foam work, 3D printing, and stilt hooves. Taking a very close second place was Benjettt, who impressed crowds with an incredible rendition of Alva from Horizon Forbidden West, crafted using 3D printing and 120 hours of sewing.

Now in its fifth year at PAX Aus, the competition highlights the pinnacle of Australian cosplay craftsmanship. As this year’s champion, Miss Twisted will receive a $3,500 travel contribution, three nights’ accommodation, and two weekend passes to represent Australia at the Cosplay Central Crown Championship Global Final at MCM London Comic Con in May 2027, while runner-up Benjett takes home a $500 prize. The milestone year also debuted Cosplay Land, a brand-new dedicated hub offering workshops, panels, and meet-ups that elevated the community experience even further.
Beyond the dazzling costumes, the festival delivered massive first-plays, international gaming icons like World of Warcraft’s Holly Longdale, and its largest tabletop offering yet. Yet, as the controllers are put down and the costumes safely stored, what truly lingers is the unique spirit of the weekend. PAX Aus is a place where you can be completely who you want to be, surrounded by people who celebrate your passions and welcome you home.
