The Logitech G309 LIGHTSPEED is a versatile wireless gaming mouse that offers great value for its price & as someone that has used the Logitech MX Anywhere 2S Mouse for all my gaming. The Logitech G309 excited me, as it has a design I love made especially for gaming.
Will this be the upgrade I dreamed of or will my dream turn into a nightmare?
Design and Comfort
The G309 LIGHTSPEED beauty lies in simplicity Its symmetrical design with a pronounced rear hump and flat sides makes it comfortable for various hand sizes and more importantly, grip styles. As grip fatigue is something that affects all of us, no matter how ergonomic our mouse is.
At only 86 grams with the AA battery (68 grams without), the G309 LIGHTSPEED is in my sweet spot for gaming mouse. As its light enough to limit fatigue on even the longest session but heavy enough to still feel responsive in your hands.
The Logitech G309 LIGHTSPEED is offered in black or white and includes a subtle texture to enhance grip. With its sleek and modern design, it reflects the high-quality construction you’ve come to expect from Logitech.
While the G309 LIGHTSPEED has many strengths, it does have a few minor drawbacks. The mouse wheel has some side-to-side play, and the side buttons can feel a bit mushy. But this is just me being over critical, especially as I don’t use the side buttons much.
Performance
The Logitech G309 LIGHTSPEED features the cutting-edge HERO 25K sensor, making it an outstanding choice for competitive gaming, and those of us, myself included, think they are competitive gaming. This sensor offers impressive accuracy and responsiveness with sub-micron precision with minimum DPI of 25,600. Allowing you to make precise movements effortlessly with minimal click latency, every command is registered almost instantly, giving players a crucial advantage in fast-paced situations. Such precision is essential for gamers who need to make split-second decisions or in my case during testing, see the person how killed me or bull off some lucky kills. The G309 LIGHTSPEED gives you one less piece of equipment to place blame on!
The HERO 25K sensor not only improves tracking accuracy but also optimizes power efficiency, ensuring the mouse can perform at its peak for long durations without quickly draining the battery.
Battery Life
One of the standout features is its battery life, with the help of the HERO 25K, lasting up to 300 hours on a single AA battery. And as someone that brought a 20 pack of Duracell Everyday Alkaline AA Battery from Bunnnings for $12.98 as I did not have any; that is approximately 6000 hours of gaming for next to nothing.
Not to mention, if you already own Logitech’s POWERPLAY mousepad, it can be charged continuously, eliminating the need for a battery altogether & allowing for an even lighter & more responsive gaming session.
Connectivity
The G309 LIGHTSPEED supports both 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth connectivity, allowing easy switching between devices. This dual connectivity is a great feature & one I’ve started looking for whenever I’m getting peripherals. As I work from home several days a week & having to unplug & re-plug multiple devices get frustrating. Having this freedom to easily switch between multiple devices is a god send.
Verdict
Overall, the Logitech G309 LIGHTSPEED is a fantastic choice for gamers looking for a reliable, high-performance wireless mouse without breaking the bank. Its excellent sensor, great battery life, and comfortable design make it a strong contender in the mid-range gaming mouse market.
The G309 LIGHTSPEED has officially become my “daily driver,” as whether I’m gaming or editing videos or working on excel; it just feels amazing in hand, light & precise. It is everything I love about Logitech MX Anywhere 2S Mouse but more redefined, elegant & the precision is unlike anything I’ve used in the past!
