Traverse the Edge of Eternities

Welcome to the Sothera system, outside of the multiverse and bordering the Blind Eternities. At the edge of the universe, mighty interstellar factions battle for control of a dangerous relic, discovered by a rag-tag crew of scrappers. The artifact holds immense power, and the crew’s way out of debt to some unsavoury characters. As hostile zealots and pursuers descend from all sides, can the dashing crew escape with the cash, the artifact, and their lives?

New Mechanics

A new frontier for Magic: The Gathering brings new and flavourful mechanics, capturing the essence of space exploration, travel, and the possibilities of Sothera. These mechanics include:

  • Station, a new mechanic that can be found on spacecraft and planets, that allows you to tap a creature you control to add charge counters equal to its power to the Station. Different Station permanents have varied payoffs for the charge counters stockpiled and deliver impactful gameplay moments.
  • Lander, a new artifact token that captures the feeling of setting foot on a new planet for the first time. Lander tokens can be sacrificed for two generic mana to search for a basic land, then put it onto the battlefield tapped.
  • Warp is a hyperspace jump, giving permanents the ability to be cast from exile on a future turn. When paying the Warp cost for a card and casting it from your hand, it’ll be exiled from the battlefield at the beginning of the next endstep, awaiting its return on a future turn.
  • Void is primarily associated with the Zeroists and those aligned with the supervoid Sothera, highlighting the dark and dangerous aspects of space. Each Void ability is different, but they all care about permanents leaving the battlefield or being warped during your turn.

Choose Your Legendary Spacecraft

Each of Edge of Eternities’ two commander decks feature a legendary Spacecraft with the new Station mechanic that can be your Commander, giving you a new way to play Magic: The Gathering’s most popular format. The World Shaper deck focuses on sacrificing lands only to grow back stronger, while Counter Intelligence seeks to power up artifacts and proliferate counters, delivering fun and creative new strategies. They also feature reprints with thematic new art, alongside two brand new rare dual lands per deck.

Collecting Edge of Eternities

Edge of Eternities brings a whole galaxy of new cards for you to claim, including thematic card treatments and immersive frames through which to view the wonders of the universe. At the heart of the story is Sothera, The Supervoid — a legendary enchantment available in both Play Boosters and Collector Boosters. It also appears in Singularity Foil version, featuring a borderless, textless, optical illusion design found in Collector Boosters. The Singularity Foil is mechanically identical to all other versions of the card.

In space, battles are hard-fought and victories celebrated. The Borderless Triumphant cards depict 16 characters from the set in a moment of victory, set against a backdrop of the stars. Meanwhile, Borderless Surreal Space cards celebrate the oddities of the universe, giving key cards from the set a dreamlike feel.

Japan Showcase cards return, imagining key cards from the set through the lens of Japanese artists in traditional foil and fracture foil. Famed manga artist Makoto Yukimura, best known for his manga Planetes and Vinland Saga, has illustrated one of the ten Japan Showcase cards in the set. You’ll also find special guests in Edge of Eternities, ten reprints that can be found in Play Boosters and Collector Boosters featuring brand new art inspired by pulp Sci-Fi novel covers.
