Media Release:
Snap Ships Toy Line Releases First Board Game Snap Ships Tactics Available At Retail Now
Following the completion of a Kickstarter campaign that raised nearly $300,000, Snap Ships Tactics, the first tabletop game from the creators of the award-winning Snap Ships® toy line, is heading to retail.
Featuring the brand’s signature modular, fully customizable ship models that assemble using a unique connection system, the game initially debuted at Gen Con where it was received warmly by fans and critics alike. Snap Ships are the brainchild of co-creators Scott Pease and Jeff Swenty; the tabletop game was designed by Josh Derksen of Lynnvander Studios.
Tactics offers players a chance to defend humanity amid interstellar warfare while craftingcustom ships from a library of hundreds of modular parts. Units that players create boast unique abilities based on the actual parts used to construct the one-of-a-kind models.
Snap Ships LLC has partnered with multiple distributors to bring Snap Ships Tactics to retail in the USA. The game is already available on the shelves at many brick and mortar stores around the country, and will be available on Amazon on September 15. The entry level set is for 1-2 players aged 14+ and provides PvP and solo modes, and will carry an MSRP of $79.99.
Tactics is an expandable miniatures system – adding additional ship kits allows bigger battles (up to 4v4 and coop play), and more unique ship parts to mix and match together.
“Our building system puts a completely custom squadron at your fingertips. The game brings a host of innovations to the dogfighting genre, from the what-you-see-is-what-you-get models, to the unique movement and combat system. Tactics is quick to learn but built with competitive depth in mind,” said Pease. “The gorgeous, toy-like models also set it up as the perfect gateway miniatures game for kids and adults alike – just snap ships together and play!”
