OverDrive - the new arena sports game from Mantic

Media Release:

In OverDrive, Draft your team of mechs, monsters and aliens in the sci-fi arena sports game with multiple ways to play.

Mantic Games is pleased to announce that OverDrive – its new sci-fi arena sports game – is available to pre-order now from the Mantic Games website and friendly local game stores. Due for release this September, OverDrive is a fast-paced experience for two-players that’s inspired by classic videogame multiplayer modes.

In OverDrive you are a coach that’s in control of a team of three players, chosen from a cast of larger-than-life characters, including a teleporting space turtle, walking shark, mind-controlling
jellyfish and more! Each of these Players is represented by detailed, PVC miniatures. Before each game you must draft your Players from the line-up available, which means you may never play the
same team twice. All future releases of new Players can be added to the line-up, giving you even more choices.

After choosing your Players it’s time to hit the arena in one of six different game modes: King of the Hill, Capture the Flag, Pass the Bomb, Invade, Kill Streak and DodgeBrawl. Each of the Players has their own skills and abilities that will make them powerful in some modes, but weak in others. As a result, knowing each player’s strengths and weakness can make the difference between success and failure.

Once you’ve played a few games, it’s time to hit the big leagues. The 56-page OverDrive rulebook features rules for creating your own league. Earn lucrative sponsorship deals, learn powerful new coaching abilities, and battle it out to become the most famous coach in the galaxy. The core game box (which has an MSRP of just £50/€65/$75) includes six PVC plastic miniatures, a 56-page rulebook, six Player cards, 12 dice, 63 tokens and a board. Plus, anyone that pre-orders before September 1st will receive exclusive resin Score and Rush Trackers.

OverDrive is due for release on September 20th, alongside accessories and two additional Players: Tigrax and Shadow. More Players are planned for 2021 and throughout 2022.
