Lucky Duck Games Announce Divinus Coming to Gamefound This Summer

Media Release:

This new digital hybrid tabletop game will mix tile-laying, dice-manipulation, and legacy mechanisms alongside an innovative new app

Lucky Duck Games is delighted to announce that their studio team is designing a new game called Divinus that will launch on Gamefound this summer. The game design is lead by Filip Miłuński who may be best known for their work on this year’s smash hit Destinies.

In Divinus, ancient Greece is being invaded by the pantheon of Nordic Gods who have left their destroyed world in search of new land to rule over. A fierce clash of Gods is about to begin and a new pantheon will be formed from the ashes. As demigods of great renown, players can win favor with either side in the hope of claiming the single prophesied seat among the Gods when the dust has settled.

Players compete in a 12-scenario campaign that will see them exploring lands, completing quests, interacting with Gods, and impacting the outcome of the epic clash between Greek and Norse pantheons. Over the course of the campaign, players will make permanent changes to the world tiles, their characters, and the ongoing narrative.

At the beginning of each campaign scenario, players will open a sealed box of new quests, components, stickers, Gods, gameplay mechanics, and more. The Divinus app will provide a narrative to the players and set the stakes for what is to come. Each turn players will spend dice from their pool to explore new tiles from the world board and laying them onto their demigod map. Tiles must be placed adjacent to one another and with matching features and strategically placing tiles will help with progress towards quest and God goals.

Thanks to the Divinus app, the game world will remember key player actions such as who built a strategically important fortification or who decided to worship at a shrine to the Gods. This means that when you visit a location in the future, your previous actions will impact the options presented to you.

“With Divinus, we set ourselves a goal to create a unique, though very accessible experience,” says designer and Creative Director at Lucky Duck Games, Filip Miłuński. “As seen in our previous games, we are developing an app to support the narrative and create an engaging and highly responsive game environment. But our main goal here is to deliver to the players an amazing legacy experience. The game is very easy to learn and start playing, but both the legacy and the post-campaign modes are being designed to offer a competitive adventure full of interesting gameplay choices and opportunities to tailor the world and your demigod character towards your own playstyle.”

Divinus will come with a host of sealed boxes that will reveal new content as players progress through the campaign. At the end of the campaign, only one demigod will come out victorious. Post-campaign, players will be able to play with their unique final copy of the game in an infinitely replayable game mode.

Players can expect to see Divinus launch on the tabletop crowdfunding platform Gamefound this summer. Lucky Duck Games have confirmed that they will publish the game in EnglishFrench, and Polish, and are looking into other language support for the launch.
