The team at Logitech Australia recently send me the new Logitech MX Anywhere 2S. The mouse was released in July of 2017 and supersedes the highly popular MX Anywhere 2.
The Anywhere 2S is designed to be a compact travel companion first and foremost. Weighing in at only 106 grams (that is the same as 2 snickers bars; sorry I was eating a snickers while writing this). It is the perfect size for throwing in your bag or slipping into your jacket pocket. It is portable, yet it has a sturdy feel and is extremely well weighted
A straightforward and yet elegant design, the rubber finger rests on both sides are a subtle geometric pattern, and the contoured metallic lines toward the back give it a real modern look. There are seven buttons on the Anywhere 2S, all of which are extremely easily customizable through the downloadable Logitech Options software.
Speaking of the Logitech software is one of the simplest and easiest I have used. You click the circle of the button you wish to change and then you can easily allocate a keystroke to attach to it or select one of the multitudes of pre-programmed selection. With over 60 selections from copy or paste to sign off or shut down.
As if that wasn’t good enough, the Logitech MX Anywhere 2S also comes with a software called, Flow.  Flow allows you to move your mouse cursor between computers, so long as they’re on the same Wi-Fi network. This works similar to having multiple displays, and genuinely handy around the office.
That being said, I may have not entirely used the Flow the way it was meant to be used. I wouldn’t recommend you do this at home. My boss isn’t the most technologically advanced member of our team and I may or may not be able to see his screen. There may have been a copy and paste some files (mostly silly pictures) across the two computers and just changed his wallpaper. He may have spent the next 30 mins on the phone to the IT guy; telling them Hackers were in his computer and changed his wallpaper to Hello Kitty.
In all seriousness though, it actually shocked me how well and easy Flow is. I was able to copy and paste files between computers using only the mouse. It takes the manual work of moving files with USB sticks, network drives, or emailing it to yourself. Combined with the ease of wireless syncing and three-device pairing; the Logitech MX Anywhere 2S is made to be incredibly easy and efficient.
See how easy it is hereÂ
Logitech MX Anywhere 2S is rated to last about 70 days on full charge, based on about six hours of daily use. Having used this mouse 5 days a week for about 7 hours a day over the last 2 months, I’m still yet to charge it. But when I do need to charge it, it won’t be an issue as I have a Samsung S7 and I have a charger for it at my desk.
I plan to just use my Samsung charge to charge it at work, as the Logitech MX Anywhere 2S has a micro USB port on the front for charging and an indicator light beneath the square button notifies you if the battery runs low. Which I only know as I had to google it, as after 2 months I haven’t needed to charge it.
In all honesty, I can’t fault the Logitech MX Anywhere 2S. I have used it on my desk, duvet, glass coffee table and my jeans; and it will literally work on anything and anywhere. It is portable and stylish, light but sturdy and works on all surfaces. If you have multiple devices in your house or work or are a regular traveller; you will find it very hard to find a better quality and more versatile mouse for the price.
You can pick up a Logitech MX Anywhere 2S here for $99.95; but I have seen them on special for as little as $79.00.
