Kanga Esports acquires Legacy from Adelaide Football Club 22nd November 2021

Kanga Esports Brings Two powerhouses under one home.

Kanga Esports, one of Oceania’s fastest-growing esports organizations, have unveiled their expansion into League of Legends, purchasing Sydney-based esports organisation, Legacy Esports, from the Adelaide Crows and their spot within the League of Legends Circuit Oceania (LCO) while maintaining the Kanga Esports brand.

Legacy Esports has been a powerhouse in the Oceanic esports space for a number of years and have specifically been competing under the Legacy brand since 2014. During their tenure, they have won two OPL championships (now known as the LCO) and were the runner-up four times in the competition.

“We are really excited about this opportunity. Kanga is always looking for ways to support the ANZ Esports ecosystem and continue to expand. Acquiring Legacy and entering League of Legends makes perfect sense for our next step,” stated Kanga Esports’ Founder and Managing Director, Hayden “Haydz” Shiels.

Bradley Da Silva, Chief Operating Officer of Kanga Esports, spoke about the acquisition and the company’s plan to make further investments within the Oceanic esports market over the coming years.

“COVID affected a majority of organisations across the space and provided us with some really interesting challenges but I’m very proud that we’ve come out stronger than ever. We’ve got a lot more exciting news for Kanga fans in the lead up to 2022 which will further highlight the strong recovery of the esports market here in Oceania,” – Chief Operating Officer of Kanga Esports, Bradley Da Silva.

Da Silva shared Haydens’ excitement, “the decision to enter a new main-stay title was one we had considered for a long time and when the opportunity presented itself, we knew what to do.”

“With the pieces set in place, we’re ready to take it to the next level. We’re excited for what’s to come and we’re thrilled to be able to create opportunities down the line for esports competitors within Oceania,”  added Da Silva.
