Imagine having a gadget that feels like your trusty sidekick, always ready to help you conquer your day. The Dell Inspiron 14 Plus promises to keep you powered up for hours, handle all your tasks with ease, and even respond to your voice commands. But, what if it also has a few cute little quirks that might make you scratch your head? Could this be the ultimate tool you’ve been waiting for, or will its little annoyances drive you up the wall? Let’s dive in and see!
Design and Build
The Dell Inspiron 14 Plus features a sleek, all-metal chassis that gives it a premium feel, which is definitely becoming the norm for Dell. While it may add a touch more weight, I’m willing to sacrifice a few grams for a more robust and sturdy body. To be fair, even with the added weight of the sturdier metal body, it’s relatively lightweight at around 1.4 kg (or 3.17 pounds in “freedom units”). This makes it not the lightest on the market, but still a very easy carry for everyday use.
The design is quite understated compared to some of their previous releases. It is sleek, straightforward, and functional, though it might not stand out as particularly stylish compared to some competitors. Personally, I prefer what’s on the inside of my laptops, and the exterior doesn’t phase me, but this is definitely a factor that needs to be considered if you want a more flashy look for your laptop.
Display
The display of the Dell Inspiron 14 Plus is, in a word, breathtaking!
The laptop boasts a 14-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2240 x 1400 pixels, delivering sharp and vibrant visuals. This higher-than-Full-HD resolution makes it perfect for both work and play. However, if you’re looking for an even more immersive experience, there’s an option for a higher resolution 2880 x 1800 display with a 90Hz refresh rate, significantly enhancing the visual quality.
The display supports Dolby Vision and offers a brightness of 400 nits, ensuring a crisp and detailed viewing experience. Whether you’re on Zoom calls or falling in love with Criminal Minds again, the Dell Inspiron 14 Plus delivers everything you deserve in a beautiful package!

Performance
Under the hood, the Dell Inspiron 14 Plus packs a punch. You have the option of an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H processor or a Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite processor. This little beast is further equipped with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to a 1TB SSD, ensuring it handles tasks with ease. Whether you’re surfing the web, crunching numbers, or diving into more demanding applications like photo and video editing, this configuration delivers smooth and reliable performance.
With up to 12 cores, this machine doesn’t shy away from multitasking. The dedicated NPU for AI tasks is a testament to its cutting-edge capabilities, making it not just a tool for today, but one ready for tomorrow’s challenges. Whether for work or play, the Inspiron 14 Plus ensures you have the performance you need, when you need it.
Battery Life
One of the standout features of the Inspiron 14 Plus is its remarkable battery life. It boasts up to 21 hours of local video playback or up to 15 hours when streaming 4K content using the Netflix Windows 11 App. This workhorse consistently provided me with 21 hours of uninterrupted use, giving me ample time and power to accomplish everything I needed. This exceptional battery life makes the Inspiron 14 Plus an excellent choice for users who need a reliable laptop for long workdays or extended travel.
Connectivity and Ports
The Inspiron 14 Plus includes a decent selection of ports, such as two USB-A ports, a microSD card slot, and an HDMI output (though limited to 1080p). However, the port selection is a major letdown for this laptop. The AC adapter uses the sole USB-C port, which means the only other ports available are USB-A. This feels like old tech, especially when many modern devices rely heavily on USB-C connectivity. The lack of multiple USB-C ports can be a significant inconvenience for users who need to connect several peripherals.
Given this limitation, I highly recommend getting a USB hub with the Inspiron 14 Plus. It’s a shame these ports don’t seem like a big ask or something outside the norm for modern laptops. It just feels like a lack of thought on Dell’s part.
On the brighter side, the laptop supports Qualcomm FastConnect 7800 Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, ensuring fast and reliable wireless connectivity. Despite the port limitations, the Inspiron 14 Plus still offers decent connectivity options for most everyday needs.

Intuitive Interaction
The Inspiron 14 Plus offers smartphone-like ease of use with voice and touch navigation, which is a nice touch. Although I didn’t use these features much personally, I found them to be very useful and impressively accurate during testing. The dual microphones ensure clear voice commands, making interaction seamless and efficient. Additionally, the tall touch screen display allows for intuitive interaction, enhancing the overall user experience.
The FHD IR webcam, equipped with Qualcomm’s Always-On Sensing technology, provides secure login and presence detection. This feature not only makes logging in easier and more secure but also enhances privacy by blocking onlookers from viewing your screen content. So don’t stress about your those perky hackers watching you while you watch movies or are doing your work.
This combination of voice, touch, and advanced webcam technology makes the Inspiron 14 Plus a versatile and user-friendly device, perfect for both work and play.
AI Capabilities
The Inspiron 14 Plus is the first Copilot+ Inspiron, featuring on-device AI powered by Snapdragon X Series processors. The built-in NPU handles AI tasks, freeing up the CPU and GPU for other functions, resulting in a more responsive experience. AI features include background noise cancellation, lighting adjustments, and gaze correction, making it ideal for video calls and content creation.
So whether you are the CEO, aspiring entrepreneur or the next Mr. Beast, the Dell Inspiron 14 Plus is a tool that can help with everything you need!
