Disney Lorcana, the Trading Card Game Featuring Beloved Disney Characters Continues its Epic Story

The Disney Lorcana Trading Card Game launched in August 2023 with a set of 216 unique cards. The First Chapter was an immediate success with fans around the world enjoying the strategic gameplay and the unique take on classic Disney characters printed on each card. Now, after 7 sets and more than 1500 cards with an 8th set to come in Reign of Jafar in May, Ravensburger is investing even more in the thriving Disney Lorcana TCG community. They are bringing on industry leaders in the new Seattle office, focusing on supporting competitive play, and creating cool cards to collect featuring Disney characters new to the game. The next chapter of Disney Lorcana TCG begins with the ninth set, Fabled, scheduled for release everywhere on September 5th, 2025.

The Fabled set will have a lot of important new aspects to it for Disney Lorcana TCG fans. For those who love to search for stunning versions of their favorite characters, there will be two new rarities to look for in each booster pack: Iconic and Epic. Iconic cards are extremely rare with only two appearing in each set, while Epic cards will appear more often than Enchanted cards and feature special artwork and foil treatments.

Fabled will also mark the first time the game will rotate cards out of being legally available to competitive players to include in their decks. The first four sets will rotate out of the Core Constructed format, but will still be available to play in a new format, called Infinity Constructed. All fans can still play with their entire card collection, but it’s important to keep the competition fresh.

“To keep the competitive game thriving, rotating out older cards to encourage new strategies and fresh deck designs is a really important part of the next chapter,” said Ryan Miller, Brand Manager and Co-Designer of Disney Lorcana TCG at Ravensburger. “But because we know there are cards in those early sets that are important to a lot of fans’ deck-building strategies, and we know not everybody got the cards they wanted the first year, we’re re-printing some cards from those first sets in Fabled. Including Enchanted versions of some fan favorites!”

Before Fabled launches in September, the ongoing story featuring Jafar from Disney’s Aladdin will culminate when Reign of Jafar, the 8th set for Disney Lorcana TCG. Jafar now possesses the Hexwell Crown and, with it, he has corrupted Archazia’s Island to his wicked will. Traps and illusions abound in Reign of Jafar, and glimmers like Jasmine – Steady Strategist and Rapunzel – High Climber will need to band together to steal back the crown and defeat the evil vizier. Illumineers’Quest: Palace Heist is a new co-op experience-in-a-box that pits up to 4 players against Jafar and his minions. The pre-release in game stores for Reign of Jafar starts on May 30th and available everywhere from June 6th.

While existing fans will be excited for the new cards in Reign of Jafar, there are millions of people out there who adore the incredible Disney stories and characters. Ravensburger wants to entice Disney fans through a new offering designed to spark the joy of collecting all the glimmers, locations and songs beautifully depicted on each Disney Lorcana card.

“The Collection Starter Set is the perfect way for Disney-lovers to jump into and start collecting cards showing off their favorite characters and moments from Disney classics,” said Chase. “Collecting is such a huge part of every trading card game and we want to show how Disney Lorcana rewards players with every pack of cards they crack open.”

That’s not all Disney Lorcana has on the horizon! Thousands of players have been competing in organized tournaments and events and the best of the best will compete in the Disney Lorcana World Championship on June 28th & 29th. 28 of the world’s best players will compete to crown the first annual Disney Lorcana TCG World Champion.
