Media Release:
Turning inspiration into immersion, Pinterest and World of Warcraft bring digital design to Azeroth
Pinterest announced its official entry into the gaming world through a first-of-its-kind partnership with World of Warcraft, transforming how players approach creativity and self-expression in-game. Timed to the introduction of player housing in World of Warcraft’s upcoming expansion, Midnight, the integration allows gamers to design personalised virtual homes inspired by Pinterest moodboards — bringing the same level of intention Pinners apply to physical spaces into Azeroth.
From 5:00am AEDT on 19 February, players can curate dungeon- and fantasy-inspired Pinterest boards and translate them directly into Pinterest-inspired Azeroth Homes. Whether it’s a Goldshire farmhouse aesthetic or a cozy stronghold style, the partnership opens a new creative pathway that redefines gaming as a space for imagination, interior storytelling and self-expression.
For the first time, players can also close the loop between inspiration and creation. Once in-game, they can capture their Pinterest-inspired homes using the Pin-o-Matic Camera, and share them directly back to Pinterest as Pins. This enables the wider community to browse, save and build upon each other’s designs, creating a seamless cycle of discovery: find inspiration, build it in-game, then share it to inspire the next player.
The collaboration reflects the rapid growth of gaming culture on Pinterest. Gaming-related searches are surging globally, with searches for “gamer egirl” up 195%, “gaming room inspiration” up 920%, and “aesthetic gaming room setup” up 695%. At the same time, World of Warcraft players collectively spent more than four million hours in their new homes during the first two weeks after the housing feature went live, highlighting a strong appetite for creative, immersive experiences beyond gameplay alone.
Pinterest has long been a place where ideas take shape. Now, through this partnership, players can bring those ideas to life inside one of the world’s most iconic gaming universes, creating spaces that reflect their identity, imagination and personal style.
As more players seek experiences that go beyond traditional gameplay, Pinterest is becoming a bridge between digital inspiration and immersive creation, inviting gamers and design lovers alike to turn their aesthetics into fully customisable in-game worlds.

How It Works
- Connect Pinterest – Players log into Pinterest via an in-game browser and authorise World of Warcraft to access their account. First-time connections unlock the “Craft Your World” achievement and the Pin-o-Matic Camera toy.
- Capture Inspiration – Using the Pin-o-Matic Camera, players take screenshots of their characters or housing, with adjustable aspect ratios.
- Publish Pins – Screenshots can be published directly to a designated World of Warcraft Pinterest board, automatically created under the player’s linked Pinterest account. A confirmation appears once the Pin is live.
- Share and Inspire – Published Pins complete the inspiration loop, allowing players to showcase creations and inspire others both in-game and across Pinterest.
